Pacific Rim : Why Everyone Should Be Checking Out This Movie
This weekend I saw Pacific Rim. I almost didn’t because I was vascillating between seeing Man of Steel for the fifth time. In the end, I decided on Pacific Rim.
I def made the right decision. One word comes to mind after I saw this movie. FUN. I had so much fun watching this movie. I laughed, I cheered (on the inside) and by the end of the movie, I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat, wringing my hands.
The gigantic robots known as Jaegers vs. huge other-dimensional monsters, known as Kaiju’s. The previews just didn’t do it justice. Seeing these things on the big screen was so cool and so immense, I would’ve been ok with the movie being 3 hours of just fighting.
Now the movie isn’t without it’s faults. But, it’s a giant robot vs giant dimensional monsters movie, right? You gotta suspend some disbelief while watching. I enjoyed the casting of this movie. Starring Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, and Ron Pearlman. I’m a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy, so anything with Hunnam and Pearlman is a win in my book. And the chemistry between Charlie Day and Burn Gorman was awesome. They played off each other so well and most of the comedic moments happened between the two.
I hope, in the end, this movie does well enough for a sequel. Guillermo Del Toro did a great job. If his whole point was to awaken the inner child in you, he passed with flying colors. In a day where everyone is trying to adapt some kind of superhero story or comic book character to the big screen, that has been told a fafillion times, this movie is a nice breath of fresh air, and I have no problem with saying I will see it again.
Don’t worry about the reviews or it failing to beat Despicable Me 2.Go see it, you will not be disappointed.
